International Baccalaureate (IB)


The International Baccalaureate (IB) is an international education organization that offers high-quality programs of international education to a worldwide community of schools. According to the IB's official website, http://www.ibo.org, the IB directs students along their own learning path to develop essential skills for challenges throughout their journey.


IB offers the following programs for students at different stages:


IB Primary Year Program (IBPYP)
The PYP program is designed for children aged 3–12. It develops caring, curiosity, and cultural awareness as they become active participants in their own learning.
 
IB Middle Year Program (IBMYP)
The IBMYP is designed for students aged 11–16. The program is designed to inspire students to make connections between the real world and their learning in class. 
 
IB Diploma Program (IBDP)
The IBDP curriculum is made up of six subject groups, including Theory of Knowledge, an Extended Essay, and a Creativity, Action, and Service Module. The IB is comprehensive but highly rewarding. Extended Essay (EE): The Extended Essay is a 4000 word independent research paper with a topic that the student is interested in. The score (0 to 34) relates to the band A (excellent) to E (elementary).


Internal Assessment (IA): The IA is an internal project for the student to independently construct a project relevant to their field of study. The IA is graded by the school teacher according to a set of criteria specified by the IB.
